The Ministry of Finance drew on Tuesday 15 million RON [1 EUR = 4.9738 RON] from banks, in addition to Monday's tenders, when it borrowed 945.2 million RON from banks, through two issues of state bonds, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

The nominal value of the two additional issues was 75 million RON each. The banks submitted offers worth 15 million RON for the 90-month issue, through which the Ministry of Finance borrowed 450 million RON at an interest rate of 6.65% per year. Instead, the banks did not participate in the tender through which the state attracted 495.2 million RON on Monday.

The Ministry of Finance (MF) has planned, in September 2024, loans from commercial banks in the amount of 5 billion RON, to which the amount of 675 million RON can be added through additional sessions of non-competitive offers, related to bond tenders.

The total amount, of 5.675 billion RON, is 25 million RON less than the one that was scheduled in August 2024, of 5.7 billion RON, and will be intended for refinancing the public debt and financing the state budget deficit.
