National unemployment rate rises to 3.20% at end-October

The unemployment rate registered at the national level rose to 3.20%, at the end of October 2024, and the total number of unemployed people was 255,344, the National Employment Agency (ANOFM) informs on Thursday.

At the end of September, the national unemployment rate was 3.14%.

Of the total number of registered unemployed, 53,482 were unemployed with benefits and 201,862 without benefits. The number of unemployed people with benefits increased by 1,213 people, and the number of unemployed people without benefits increased by 3,826 people compared to the previous month.

By residence, the number of jobless people at the end of October is presented as follows: 69,064 unemployed come from urban areas and 186,280 unemployed come from rural areas.

The number of unemployed women on October 31, 2024 was 120,297 people, while the number of unemployed men was 135,047 people.

Most of the out-of-work people were between 40 - 49 years old (64,518), followed by those over 55 years old (57,461), at the other end were people between 25 - 29 years old (14,261).

As to the structure of unemployment according to the level of training, the unemployed without education and those with primary training level have a significant share in the total number of unemployed registered in the ANOFM records (31.23%). The unemployed with a secondary education level represent 31.61% of the total registered unemployed, and those with university education 4.66%.
