The president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, who is participating in the NATO anniversary summit in Washington, stated on Tuesday evening, in a post on a social network, that the allied leaders are "prepared for substantial debates and firm decisions to increase collective security and resilience".
"Today we begin in Washington, D.C. the anniversary summit of #NATO, essential for the promotion of our ambitious allied agenda and transatlantic unity," president Iohannis further writes in his Facebook post, accompanied by a group photo from the ceremony that marks NATO's 75th anniversary, which took place a few hours ago at the Walter Mellon Auditorium in Washington.
The president is participating in the NATO meeting in Washington on Wednesday and Thursday, during which several topics of importance for the future of the Alliance will be discussed, including a substantial package of support for Ukraine.
President Klaus Iohannis will be greeted on Wednesday, around noon, upon arrival at the NATO summit, by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and US President Joe Biden. On Wednesday evening, Klaus Iohannis will attend, at the White House, together with the leaders of the other member states, a dinner organized by President Joe Biden.
