Natural population growth stays negative in March (INS)

The natural increase in population was again negative in March this year, the deaths exceeding live births by 7,420 people, according to data released on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In March 2017, the birth of 15,051 children was recorded, 2,035 more children than in February 2017.

The number of people whose deaths were recorded in March was 22,471, by 238 less than in February 2017. The number of infants aged less than one year who died was 108, rising by 3 as compared to February 2017.

Against March of last year, the number of live births increased by 232, and the number of deceased people increased by 300. The natural increase in population was negative both in March 2017 (-7,420 people) and in March 2016 (-7,352 people), specifies INS.

The number of infants aged less than one year who died was by 29 lower in March 2017 than the one recorded in March 2016.
