A protest took place on Wednesday evening in Victoria Square, where hundreds of protesters have gathered around 21:00 hrs being unsatisfied with the amendments to the pardon law that were voted in the Senate's Judicial Committee.
The protest took place outside the Victoria Palace, on the central square, on the same place were the protests in February took place.
Over 500 persons protested while waving tricolour flags and flags of the US, chanting slogans against the political class.
They displayed placards reading messages such as: "You stole and sold 23 million people," "Enough with 27 years of criminals."
The traffic police stated that the traffic in the Victoria area was deviated, even interrupted from Romana Square towards Victoria Square and between Iancu de Hunedoara Boulevard to Aviators' Boulevard.
Judicial senators have voted on Wednesday an amendment to the draft law for pardoning some sentences and educative measures depriving of freedom, through which persons who were convicted for bribery, influence peddling, buying influence are pardoned. Moreover, also pardoned are the crimes committed by members of arbitration courts or connected to them or crimes committed by foreign clerks or connecting to them.
The pardon decision of these acts was voted in the committee with five votes "in favor" and "three" against.
This amendment was proposed by Senators Traian Basescu (People's Movement Party - PMP) and Liviu Brailoiu (Social Democratic Party -PSD).
In the initial version of the Government's draft law these crimes were exempted from pardon.
