Number of job vacancies drops to 39,400 in Q2 2023

Job vacancies in Q2 2023 stood at 39,400, by 7,700 fewer compared to the previous quarter, shows data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The estimated job vacancy rate in Q2 was 0.77 percent, by 0.16 percentage points lower compared to the previous quarter and 0.14 percentage points down year-over-year, as the number of vacancies dropped by 6,600 from the year-ago period, agerpres reports.

In the reporting period, the job vacancy rate was highest in financial intermediation and insurance (1.60 percent), the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (1.43 percent), and water distribution, sanitation, waste management and decontamination activities (1.39 percent).

The manufacturing industry provided for more than one quarter of the total number of vacancies (10,700).

According to INS data, the public sector accounted for 19.5 percent of the total number of job vacancies, of which 3,700 were in public administration, 2,800 in health care and social assistance, and 1,100 in education.
