Over 30 migrants were caught by border police officers from Arad over the weekend when they were trying to leave the country illegally, hiding in four trucks carrying goods and in the trunks of two cars, informs Agerpres.
At the Border Crossing Point (PTF) Nadlac II, three trucks driven by two Turkish and one Romanian drivers and two cars registered in Romania were checked. The trucks contained furniture, car parts and an industrial machine being transported to Germany and France.
"Following a thorough check of the means of transportation, a total of 32 foreign nationals were found hidden in the semi-trailers, among the goods transported, respectively in the trunks of the cars. The persons were picked up and transported to the sector headquarters for investigations where, following the checks, the border police established that they were Syrian nationals who intended to cross the state border fraudulently," Arad Border Police informed on Monday.
Also, at the PTF Nadlac I, in a truck registered in Turkey, driven by a Turkish who was transporting fruit to the Czech Republic, two Syrians were found.
In all cases, the drivers are being investigated for migrant smuggling, while the Syrians are being investigated for attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border.
