Over 40 international arbitration experts from 14 countries on four continents participate in the sixth edition of the Bucharest Arbitration Days taking place between June 5 and 6.
Representatives of arbitration institutions, arbitrators, internal and external counsels and lawyers are set to debate within the seven scheduled sessions the fundamental theme of the reassessment of access to justice and fair trial in international arbitration, with major implications for the legitimacy of international arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism.
The event is organized by the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and provider of information, software solutions, and services Wolters Kluwer Romania.
"The key word of the Bucharest Arbitration Days 2025 is reassessment. More precisely, reassessment of our understanding of arbitration, taking into account new information or new developments that could change our perception of it. Reassessment isn't possible without flexibility, responsiveness and collaboration. We are confident in our ability to support arbitration as an efficient dispute resolution mechanism, while ensuring that its legitimacy also promotes access to justice," said the president of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration Stefan Deaconu.
Romania's caretaker Prime Minister Catalin Predoiu stressed that the importance of arbitration in the country's economy is undeniable, having been adopted as an efficient alternative for resolving disputes.
"Romania has been and remains an active supporter and constant user of arbitration mechanisms. (...) The importance of arbitration in our country's economy is undeniable. There is no doubt that arbitration has been adopted by the Romanian business community as an efficient alternative for resolving disputes. I am convinced that commercial arbitration will continue to develop in step with the constant evolution of the economy," Predoiu said as cited in the release.
Bucharest Arbitration Days is an international event that annually brings together practitioners in the field of commercial arbitration, academic personalities and attendants interested in this method of alternative dispute resolution, to discuss and debate the most recent legal or practical aspects in matters of arbitration.
