The 20 percent increase in special pensions, given that contributory pensions have been increased by only 10 percent, is immoral and creates a sense of humiliation for pensioners receiving contributory pensions, informs a press release issued by three pensioners' organizations on Tuesday, Agerpres reports.
"The representative national federations of the pensioners' organizations have taken note with surprise of the decision, which they consider immoral, to increase the special pensions by 20 percent, given that the state social insurance pensions of millions of pensioners have been increased by only 10 percent. The difference in increase between the two percentages - 20 percent compared to 10 percent creates a sense of humiliation of pensioners with contributory pensions," the release mentions.
The document is drafted by the National Federation of Romanian Pensioners, the General Union of Pensioners of Romania and the "Union" National Federation of Pensioners of Romania.
The three pensioners' organizations are calling on the prime minister to explain publicly why this discrimination was created between the two categories of pension beneficiaries.
At the same time, the three organizations called for the head of the Government to adopt measures to rectify this situation, the release reads.
