The fiscal measures in the package for which the Government pledged responsibility in Parliament "only bring some resources" into the public system, so that it can also offer better services to the citizens in the coming years, prime minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Tuesday.
"I don't want to lie, I will always tell Romanians the truth and these measures, which bring the elimination of some exceptions and the expansion of some taxpayer bases, only bring some resources into the system, so that it in turn has the capacity to offer better services, not from one day to the next, but in the coming years. If this improvement will be seen in six months, in a year, in a month and a half, it means that it was all worth it," the head of Executive told Digi24 private television broadcaster.
He said, regarding the allowances for mothers on parental leave, that "the duration of the leave is one year and the allowance is 65% of the earnings in a country like Germany."
The prime minister also mentioned the need to reduce "waste in the public system" wherever possible, and in this area he also mentioned the exceptions to the payment of health insurance contributions that have worked until now.
"It would have been good to be able to maintain all the exceptions related to the payment of health insurance contributions as they were announced at a certain point, but this is no longer possible (...) first of all, we need to reduce waste in the public system, wherever possible, and where we had facilities that were granted, there we need to analyze them if they can really be supported in the future, if they are perfectly justified and if these conditions are really respected, we must move forward," pointed out PM Bolojan.
At the same time, he stated, the services the Romanian state currently offers, "unfortunately, are those that it has the capacity to offer."
"We must do everything possible to improve them. It is a situation that requires years of accumulation," added Ilie Bolojan.
