Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu on Friday sent a message of condolences to the Azerbaijan people, following the plane crash in Kazakhstan, when an Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed near Aktau, a port on the Caspian Sea.
''The Romanian government stands in solidarity with the Azerbaijani people. We send our condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic plane crash and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured,', the prime minister wrote on the X platform, Agerpres informs.
The Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer 190 plane with 67 people on board was on a flight from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny, the capital of the Caucasian republic of Chechnya in Russia, on Wednesday. The plane crashed and caught fire under unclear circumstances near Aktau, a Caspian Sea port in western Kazakhstan, killing 38 people, according to authorities in the Central Asian country.
