PM Dancila meets Cardinal Parolin to talk about agreement to recognise diplomas of university education

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila met on Friday with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, with both officials showing their intention to continue the negotiations regarding the signing of an Agreement on collaboration and mutual recognition of diplomas of the university education area. 

According to a Government release sent to AGERPRES, Viorica Dancila and Pietro Parolin "expressed their satisfaction for the excellent level of the bilateral relations between Romania and the Holy See, highlighted both at political and cultural, educational level." 

"Also reiterated was the recognition that the Catholic Church enjoys in Romania, as a partner for the common welfare of the entire society and a contributor to the Romanian spiritual, historic and cultural legacy. In this regard, a series of concrete aspects of interest for the activity of the Catholic and Greek Catholic Churches in Romania have been discussed," the release mentions. 

Furthermore, the PM voiced appreciation for the Catholic Church support of the Romanian communities in the Diaspora, including by hosting many Romanian religious communities, Orthodox or Catholic, of the Western Europe. 

"Moreover, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and Cardinal Pietro Parolin expressed their intention to continue the negotiation on signing an Agreement regarding the collaboration and mutual recognition of diplomas of the university education," the release mentions. 

According to the Executive, an important aspect of discussion tackled the international agenda, with highlights on the similarities of approaching topical files. 

"There were mainly tackled the topics regarding the future of Europe (including in the context of Romanian taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2019), the migrants and refugees issue, as well as the situation of the Peace Process in the Middle East," the release points out. 

The meeting took place within a visit that the Prime Minister Viorica Dancila is paying to Vatican, where she had a private audience on Friday with Pope Francis.
