The first edition of Smart City Highlights, the largest national event dedicated to academic urban innovation, will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, organised by Politehnica Bucharest together with CITI Cluster Technical International Centre for Innovation in Smart City and in partnership with the Association of Romania's Municipalities (AMR).
The event is expected to transform Bucharest into a hub of ideas for smart cities, bringing together in a neutral and strategic platform representatives of the central and local public administration, top companies in the field of technology, academia and cutting-edge research.
Attendees can visit interactive exhibits and live demonstrations, including a mobile data centre, an electric vehicle exhibit, a smart bus station, along with IT infrastructure solutions, document management, and smart street lighting. Among the participants are the robotics teams AI Citizens (world champion) and Cyberlis76 (European runner-up) at robotics competitions.
On Tuesday, on the first day of the event, solutions for large cities will be discussed, with topics such as smart mobility, digital twin, cybersecurity, green cities, artificial intelligence and big data. Participants will have access to live demonstrations, applied workshops and technology exhibitions of leading companies and research institutes.
On Wednesday, on the second day, solutions will be sought for small communities and rural areas: smart public lighting, accessible digital infrastructure, telemedicine, sustainable agriculture and energy efficiency.
Smart City Cluster is an initiative of the Politehnica University of Bucharest, a cluster built on the triple spiral model of the Smart City value chain (companies, universities and research institutes, administrations and other catalytic organisations). The cluster facilitates and integrates communication and collaboration between members to provide solutions for green and sustainable cities through digitalisation, research and innovation.
