AGERPRES special correspondent Oana Ghita reports: The threat posed by drones is no longer solely linked to proximity with Russia, and the anti-drone wall could become operational within a few months, President Nicusor Dan said on Thursday upon arriving at the European Political Community meeting.

"At this stage, we are talking about a draft action plan. First, we will have the action plan, and only after that, possibly, leaders who will coordinate the effort. There are nuances in the discussions, but it is clear that this is no longer just an issue of being close to Russia. You have seen incidents at airports, and there were no drones coming from Russia or Belarus to those locations. This is a threat we are currently facing, and even though there are differences in opinion on this topic, the general direction is agreed upon," said the head of state.

He mentioned that the issue was also raised during Wednesday's informal European Council discussions.

Nicusor Dan added that the latest part of the discussion on the anti-drone wall also touched on funding.

When asked when the wall would become operational, he replied: "In a few months."
