President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday he will hold talks with coalition parties to ensure that Romania's key projects move forward, despite political tensions in the public space.

The head of state made the remarks during a visit to the major burns unit at the Pius Brinzeu County Emergency Clinical Hospital in Timisoara, where he was accompanied by Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete.

"We have a parliamentary configuration that requires the four pro-Western parties and national minorities to work together so that Romania can achieve the objectives it has set. These parties, beyond all the public noise, have collaborated very well on the OECD, where we are at milestone 24 out of 25," the president said.

He added that coalition parties 'have also cooperated quite well on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)' and that Romania has five months left to access the available funds.

"I believe that beyond political statements, political games, even political configurations, what matters is that there is responsibility for the major objectives Romania has set. (...) I do not think we should analyse all the possible scenarios circulating in the public space. What I can say is that there is responsibility and that I will mediate and hold discussions so that Romania's important projects move forward," the head of state said.

Nicusor Dan added that he holds meetings with governing leaders almost weekly.
