President Iohannis on Independence Day letter to Zelenskyy says Romania further on Ukraine's side

President Klaus Iohannis sent a letter to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day, addressing congratulations and thoughts of peace and prosperity to the Ukrainian people, Agerpres reports.

President Klaus Iohannis voiced his appreciation for the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian armed forces and civilians in the battle for defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Presidential Administration points out on Saturday.

"I reiterate on this occasion Romania's firm commitment to continue the constant, predictable and multidimensional support, until Ukraine's final victory, as well as further on in the the process of reconstruction and European integration. Romania's position stays unchanged: we shall be by the side of Ukraine in its process of making accountable all those guilty of the crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine and we shall contribute to the process of achieving a just, long-lasting and inclusive peace based on the Peace Formula proposed by Ukraine," Romania's president conveyed in the letter to Zelenskyy.

Moreover, Iohannis underscored that signing the cooperation agreement in the security area between the two countries, on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington, proves that Romania's support is not only circumstantial, but it is a long-term one, predictable and transparent.

At the same time, President Klaus Iohannis gave guarantees that Romania would continue to participate in putting into practice in the coming period the valuable results obtained at the NATO Summit in Washington, results endorsed by Romania, who has actively gotten involved in consolidating the political and practical relation between NATO and Ukraine, the source mentions.

President Klaus Iohannis voiced conviction that the political-diplomatic dialogue between Romania and Ukraine would continue at a sustained pace on all levels, aimed at lifting the bilateral relation to a strategic partnership level, in accordance with the commitment assumed on the occasion of the visit Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid to Bucharest, on October 10, 2023.
