Save Romania Union (USR) President Dominic Fritz met President Nicusor Dan on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace, political sources told AGERPRES.
The meeting took place after President Nicusor Dan announced on Tuesday that he would begin informal consultations with political parties to form a new Government, following the censure motion against the Bolojan Cabinet passing Parliament.
Dominic Fritz also told a press conference on Tuesday that within the talks with President Nicusor Dan he would convey the decisions of the party's Political Committee: that the USR would not return to negotiations with the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and that it would coordinate its decisions with the National Liberal Party (PNL) to assess future options.
"The USR Political Committee maintains its previous decision not to form a governing majority with the PSD. The USR continues its reform-oriented political direction. The USR will propose to the National Liberal Party a political agreement for a coordinated approach regarding the next steps. It mandates its president, Dominic Fritz, to hold discussions to this effect with PNL leader Ilie Bolojan," the USR announced on Tuesday.
