President Nicusor Dan participated on Saturday in the meeting of the Councils of Romania and Republic of Moldova Rectors, which took place in the Mihai Eminescu Grand Hall of the oldest higher education institution in Romania, the 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' University in Iasi.
Heads of several Romanian and Moldovan universities participated in the event - "the third higher education event President Nicusor Dan attends this October," as Sorin Campeanu, president of the National College of Rectors in Romania, told the press. "This sends an important message, because it shows that attention is being paid to Romanian universities," Campeanu added.
According to him, the topics addressed during the meeting in Iasi focused on the role of universities in Romania and in Europe today, the role of research and investments in research, public-private partnerships for the transposition of research results into industry, technological transfer capable of bringing added value and competitiveness to the Romanian economy.
"In recent years, we have been developing these relationships through the Council of Romanian Rectors, universities and rectors in Romania. We are carrying out important activities together, we are consolidating study programs, we have exchanges of experience and mobility between teaching staff, students, residents. (...) The steps taken so far are very important for us, as a country, for being correct and in accordance with EU requirements," Emil Ceban, president of the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Moldova, told the press.
