The vote today will affect the lives of our children and grandchildren, and the country is "in the hands" of those who will express themselves at the polls, acting president Ilie Bolojan stated on Sunday.

He voted in the second round of the presidential elections at a school in Capital City Bucharest, agerpres reports.

"I voted today being aware of the importance of this vote, because the decision that the citizens of our country will make today will not only influence our development model in the next five years, but will impact the lives of our children and grandchildren," stated Bolojan.

He emphasised that the president who will be elected will not be able to do everything, but "will be able to do a lot for a country that you can rely on, to overcome economic difficulties, but especially to restore trust and hope."

The interim president estimated that starting next week, the president-elect can do these things "with honesty, common sense and responsibility for our country."

"Use this right that we have earned, the right to vote, because today, more than ever, the destiny of our country is in your hands. Vote as your conscience dictates," he urged voters.
