The National Political Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) decided on Monday to quit the governing coalition, and Marcel Ciolacu will resign as prime minister.
"The governing coalition has no legitimacy, at least in this composition. I have proposed to my colleagues that we leave the coalition, something that leads to my resignation as prime minister, which I will do after my meeting with you.
We made the decision that the PSD ministers will discuss with PNL, UDMR representatives and as it is decided so it will be done [regarding the interim of ministers - editor's note]. (...)
We made the decision not to publicly support either of the two candidates in the presidential elections in the second round," PSD chairman Marcel Ciolacu said at the party's headquarters.
