Social Democrat leader Liviu Dragnea said on Friday that President Klaus Iohannis "is perfectly in the know and in the loop since long" with his third case opened by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).
"He sees it and knows it well, he's been in the loop since long on this subject. He didn't say anything new, probably only those who acquired by fraud several state-owned houses can stay there," said Liviu Dragnea at the end of the meeting of PSD's National Executive Committee that took place in the Baile Herculane spa resort.
Dragnea's statement follows President Iohannis's reaction who, when asked whether Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Dragnea should resign his position in the context of his new DNA case, replied that persons subject to criminal investigation should not be in any position at the state's helm.
"I have expressed my opinion since long. Right from the start people who have been convicted or who are criminally prosecuted should not be at the rule of the state," said the head of state before attending the Social Summit in Gothenburg.
Chamber of Deputies Speaker Liviu Dragnea is being indicted by the National Anticorruption Directorate in the Tel Drum case for having set up a criminal group, abuse of office and misusing funds in his former position as president of the Teleorman County Council.
