PSD's (Social Democratic Party) priority is to take measures to protect the income of the population now, in the middle of winter, and not on April 1 or in 2024, when we have an election year, Marcel Ciolacu stated on Wednesday.

"PSD's priority is to help Romanians be able to pay their energy bills, not to worry about whether or not such a measure upsets rating agencies. Our efforts are to have enough doctors to deal with the new pandemic wave, not to invent certificates threatening the doctors - precisely now! - with suspension. Our efforts are focused on having hospitals equipped and able to pay their utility bills, not closed hospitals because of huge overnight increases in bills. Let us take measures to protect the income of the population now, in the middle of winter, not on April 1 or in 2024... when we have an election year," Ciolacu wrote on Facebook.

He added that it was clear to all those in good faith that in the face of the crisis caused by the chaotic liberalization of the energy market by right-wing parties, "the population deserves more solutions than those already announced."

"We need more courageous decisions, aimed at the vulnerable, pensioners and single-parent families, but also at Romanian companies. Romanians are fed up with excuses and reasons to mask decision-making. And one thing is certain: urgent action must be taken to help them," Ciolacu stated, Agerpres informs.
