Social Democratic Party (PSD) interim Chairman Sorin Grindeanu on Tuesday said there were chances for the issue of magistrates' pensions to be unblocked within the coalition if pride and the power positions of certain members of the Government are set aside.

Grindeanu was asked what the chances are for the problem of magistrates' pensions to be resolved during the current government.

'I say that if discussions take place and pride and these power positions of some within the Government are set aside, there are chances. That's what I say,' the PSD leader told Antena 3 private television broadcaster, adding that these chances are higher than five out of ten.

He mentioned that the deadline for completing the draft is 28 November, and if this law is not adopted by that date, Romania will lose 230 million euro.

'I want us to have a law that is fair. You cannot retire at 48 or 49 years old with 100 per cent of your salary. That cannot happen. This deadlock has led to the law that is currently in force. (...) We have been sitting and watching for two weeks as the 28th approaches, and we still do not have a law,' said Sorin Grindeanu.
