The Social Democratic Party (PSD) leadership discussed on Tuesday's meeting about the situation of Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu, party president Sorin Grindeanu said, adding that he will try to have a meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on this topic and, afterwards, he will announce what the Social Democrats want.

"I am not hiding that this topic was raised in today's meeting. I will try to have a meeting today with Mr Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and allow me to firstly discuss with him and afterwards to announce what we want. I believe this is the correct approach," Grindeanu said after the meeting of the PSD's National Standing Bureau.

Asked if the PSD's assessment to leave the Government or not shall be accelerated if, following his meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the latter says that Minister Buzoianu must remain in office, Sorin Grindeanu said: "The PSD will not leave the Government now because the minister has done foolish things at the Environment Ministry, but it matters in the assessment."

The PSD president had announced last Friday that the party would enter a period of reviewing its time in the Government, after which it would make a decision, just as it did six months ago when it joined the governing coalition.

Several PSD representatives asked for the resignation of Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu following the water crisis in Prahova and Dambovita counties. During the "Government's Question Time in Parliament" debates on Monday's session of the Chamber of Deputies, the PSD MPs together with those from the Alliance for Romanians' Union (AUR) also called for the minister's resignation.
