The number of housing units completed in the first quarter of this year was 10,962, down by 398 units compared to the first quarter of 2024, according to provisional data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published Thursday.
In urban areas, 6,352 homes were completed (57.9% of the total), an increase of 204 units compared to the first three months of last year, while in rural areas, 4,610 homes were completed, a decrease of 602 units.
The breakdown by sources of funding shows that, in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, the number of homes completed with private funding dropped by 506 units, to 10,507, while those completed with public funding increased by 108 units, to 455.
The regional distribution highlights a decrease in the number of completed homes in the following development regions: North-West (-408 units), West (-343), South-East (-180), South-Muntenia (-162), and North-East (-52). In contrast, increases were recorded in Bucharest-Ilfov (+657 units), South-West Oltenia (+76) and the Centre region (+14).
According to the INS, completed housing units are those built during the reference period, whose elements - including the foundation - were constructed for the first time, with all work completed as specified in the technical documentation and accepted by the beneficiary.
