Romania's National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a red code alert for heavy rainfall, effective from Thursday to Friday evening in Dolj and Olt counties.

According to meteorologists, between Oct 2, 18:00, and Oct 3, 21:00, the affected counties are expected to receive intense rainfall totaling 100-110 liters per square meter.

In addition, a special weather advisory for very cold temperatures, heavy rain, strong winds, and temporarily blizzard conditions above 1,500 meters came into effect Thursday at 10:00 and is valid until Saturday morning.

The weather will be exceptionally cold across most of the country, with maximum temperatures between 7 and 15°C, higher in Dobrogea (17-20°C), and minimum temperatures ranging from 0 to 10°C.

From Thursday morning, rainfall will gradually expand from the southwest across the country, accumulating 25-50 liters per square meter in most regions, and over 70-90 liters in southern areas.

In mountainous areas, mixed precipitation is expected, with temporarily blizzard conditions and snow accumulation above 1,500 meters. Winds will intensify temporarily in the south, east, mountains, and isolated areas elsewhere, generally reaching 45-55 km/h, and exceeding 60-70 km/h in Muntenia and Dobrogea.
