Rector of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration Remus Pricopie said on Tuesday that Prime Minister-designate Adrian Vestea should resign his mandate and that President Nicusor Dan should convene consultations with the parliamentary parties, "in the spirit and letter of the Constitution," in order to "ease tensions and rebuild trust."
"I do not believe that a Vestea Government can bring the calm and political balance that Romania needs. After yesterday, the political landscape appears more tense than it was even at the time of the motion of no confidence. I believe Mr Adrian Vestea should resign his mandate and President Nicusor Dan should convene consultations with the parliamentary parties, in the spirit and letter of the Constitution. Such a decision would help ease tensions and rebuild trust," the rector wrote on Facebook.
In his view, political parties must accept dialogue and the necessary compromises because "they have pushed the confrontation too far."
According to the SNSPA rector, without negotiation there is no politics, only permanent confrontation, which does not produce stable governments but ever deeper crises.
"Romania needs an intelligent political solution, not a temporary victory for one side over the other. Ultimately, stability and the public interest must be more important than pride and short-term political calculations," Remus Pricopie also said.
