Romania is celebrating today the 70th anniversary of its UNESCO, the Joint Standing Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for UNESCO has announced.
"Today we are marking 70 years since Romania's accession to UNESCO - seven decades in which our country has promoted education, science, culture and heritage, contributing to the mission of one of the most important international organisations. During this period, Romania has achieved international recognition by registering sites and heritage elements that reflect the richness of history, creativity and identity of the Romanian people," the parliamentary committee said in a social media post.
According to the post, each inscription in the UNESCO heritage list is the result of the work and dedication of those who research, protect and carry on our heritage: institutions, specialists, people of culture, craftsmen and local communities.
"On the anniversary of Romania's 70th anniversary of UNESCO membership, we look confidently to the future and reaffirm our commitment to protecting and promoting the values that define us. Happy anniversary, Romania in UNESCO! Happy anniversary to all those who contributed and are contributing to this beautiful story."
