Romania will host in Bucharest the 21st edition of the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) from December 2 to 12.
"The Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, the University of Economic Studies of Bucharest and the School Inspectorate of Bucharest, is organizing the XXIst International Junior Science Olympiad, from December 2 to 12, in Bucharest," the Ministry of Education announced on Monday.
According to the source, more than 300 competitors are expected to participate in the Olympiad, students aged between 13 and 16 from 54 countries, more than 20 observers, 148 team-leaders and 11 members of the board of the international olympiad, with duties of coordinating the Olympiad.
The International Junior Science Olympiad is an interdisciplinary competition in the field of natural sciences (physics, biology, chemistry), which takes place in December each year and is organized in rotation, according to the rules, by each member country.
Romania has participated in all editions of this competition, obtaining remarkable results: 98 medals (7 gold, 54 silver and 37 bronze).
For the organization of this year's edition in Romania, the Ministry of Education has submitted to the Romanian Government a Memorandum on the approval of the International Junior Science Olympiad in Bucharest, a document adopted on May 30, 2024.
