National Defence Minister Mihai Fifor met on Tuesday with his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Lieberman, whom he tackled topical issues on the bilateral agenda of military cooperation, as well as aspects regarding the international security situation, reads a press release of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent to AGERPRES.
"The two officials appreciated military cooperation at the level of all armed forces categories, underscoring that in the context of the developments in the international security environment, it is important to identify new collaboration fields," the release informs.
The Romanian official presented the endowment priorities of the Romanian armed forces, in the context of the 2 percent allocation of the GDP for Defence, while highlighting the cooperation opportunities that arise from this context.
Mihai Fifor also paid a visit to Sourasky Medical center - Ichilov Hospital, in order to see the facilities of emergency medicine, on which occasion he held practical discussions with the deputy manager of the medical facility, Professor Itzhak Shapira, who pointed out the main equipment and programmes of the hospital.
"In the context, Mihai Fifor brought to mind that it is very important demarches be carried out in the upcoming period in view of the cooperation between 'Carol Davila' Central University Hospital for Military Emergency in Bucharest and Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv, from the perspective of the specialisation of young military physicians in Romania, included," the MApN release further mentions.
In the context of the visit to Israel, the Defence minister visited several companies - Rafael, Elbit, IMI, IAI, IWI, where discussions and presentations took place related to industrial cooperation possibilities in the military field.
