Romania's table tennis player Elizabeta Samara on Tuesday became France's champion having played for the winning team Metz TT, which scored a 3-2 away victory over ASRTT Etival in the penultimate leg of the championship.
Samara won the decisive point in the fight against ASRTT Etival, thanks to her 3-2 (11-6, 6-11, 15-13, 3-11, 11-6) win over Jieni Shao. In her first meet, Samara lost to Tingting Wang cu 3-2 (11-6, 5-11, 11-9, 11-13, 11-9).
Fu Yu won two more points for Metz, which secured its champion title one leg before the championship is over.
Topping the ranking is Metz TT (29). It is followed by Saint Quentin TT (25), the team that signed Romanian-born Daniela Dodean-Monteiro.
Saint Quentin TT was defeated at home 3-2 by Grand Quevilly ALCL, with both points of the home team scored by Daniela Dodean, 3-0 against Fen Li and 3-2 against Shiho Ono.
