The Board of the International Energy Agency (IEA) has expressed its full support for Romania's accession to this organization, which brings together over 40 states and sets strategic energy directions at a global level, the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan announced on Tuesday evening.

"A huge recognition for Romania: during today's meeting, Fatih Birol and the IEA Board have expressed their full support for Romania's accession to the IEA, the organization that brings together over 40 states and sets strategic energy directions at a global level. The community of energy champion states has understood one thing clearly: Romania will develop a strong energy mix, through the projects we are implementing in nuclear, wind, hydro, solar and in the Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea", the minister wrote on Facebook.

He stated that Fatih Birol recalled that hydropower is the forgotten giant of electricity, producing 14% of the world's energy, "more than nuclear and as much as wind and solar energy combined".

"With the increase in global consumption and the expansion of data centers, hydropower will become even more important. For Romania, the conclusion is simple: we must complete the energy projects we have started - in hydro, nuclear, wind, gas and infrastructure - to strengthen our regional position", the minister of energy also posted on his social media page.
