Romania's national team defeated Serbia 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 25-21, 17-15) on Wednesday evening in Sofia in a Group B match of the Balkan qualifiers for the 2026 Under-18 Women European Volleyball Championship.
After a clear defeat against Türkiye (0-3), Romania managed to secure an important victory after almost two hours of play (1 hr 58 min).
Bianca Gabriela Cucu was by far the best player for Romania, scoring 29 points. Briana-Maria Parasca and Daria Maria Ocenic added 12 points each.
For the losing side, the stand-out players were Sara Krsmanovic with 23 points, Lara Vucurevic with 14, Masa Radojevic with 13 and Teodora Zec with 10.
Türkiye are in first place with one win (3 points), followed by Romania with one win (2 points) and Serbia (1 point). The top two teams qualify for the semi-finals, while the third-placed team will play for places five to six.
The final match in the group will be played on Thursday between Türkiye and Serbia.
The group winners will qualify directly for the final tournament, while the teams placed second to fifth will advance to the second qualification stage, scheduled between 26 and 29 March 2026.
