The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Nicolae Ciuca on Wednesday attends in Brussels the takeover ceremony of the mandate of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) presidency, a release sent to AGERPRES informs.
According to the source, the event will be attended by the military representatives of the Member States of the European Union.
This event marks, at European Union Military Committee level, the official moment of the takeover by Romania of the EU Council's presidency.
Among the topics of interest our country will have in view during its six months of tenure are the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), aimed at strengthening the initiatives regarding the development of the EU defence capabilities, the active promotion of the practical dimension of the NATO - EU partnership, the capitalisation, in the context of the transatlantic dialogue, of the cooperation opportunities generated through CSDP development and the increase of the EU's role and credibility as regional and global actor in matters of security and defence, the said release adds.
