Romanian managers estimate, for the period August - October 2024, a moderate increase in activity in construction, retail trade and services, as well as an increase in prices in construction and retail trade, according to data the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published Wednesday.
In the August 2024 business survey, managers in the manufacturing industry predict for the next three months a relative stability in the volume of production (conjunctural balance +3%). Regarding the number of employees, relative stability is estimated, the conjunctural balance being -2%. The prices of industrial products are forecast to increase moderately over the next three months (conjunctural balance +10%).
According to the estimates of August 2024, in the construction activity there will be a moderate increase in the volume of production (conjunctural balance +8%) and a relatively stable number of employees (conjunctural balance +5%) for the next three months. As regards the prices of construction works, they are expected to increase (conjunctural balance +21%).
In the retail trade sector, managers forecast a moderate upward trend in economic activity for the next three months (conjunctural balance +13%). The volume of orders placed by commercial units with suppliers of goods will be relatively stable (conjunctural balance 0%). Employers forecast a moderate increase in the number of employees for the next three months (conjunctural balance +6%). Managers of commercial companies estimate an increase in retail prices (conjunctural balance +28%).
According to the August 2024 estimates, the demand for services (turnover) will grow moderately over the next three months (conjunctural balance +7%). Managers in the services sector expect the number of employees to remain relatively stable (conjunctural balance +1%). Also, according to the managers' opinion, the selling or invoicing prices of services will have a moderate upward trend (conjunctural balance +11%).
The institution mentions that the conjunctural balance indicates the perception of business managers on the dynamics of a phenomenon which should not be confused with the rate of increase or decrease of any statistical indicator produced by the INS. The percentage conjunctural balance is obtained as the difference between the percentage of managers who chose the positive variant of the phenomenon and the percentage of those who indicated the negative variant.
