A Romanian national was injured in an explosion on Thursday in Spain. He is now in hospital, out of harm's way, according to Romania's Foreign Ministry (MAE).
"The Romanian Embassy in Madrid is carefully monitoring the aftermath of the incident of May 5, 2017 at a waste treatment facility of Arganda del Rey and has started procedures with the relevant authorities to check for Romanian nationals among the victims, " MAE said Friday in a reply to a request for public information filed by agerpres.
MAE also said that local authorities reported the Romanian national was rushed to the local hospital at Arganda del Rey, currently being out of harm's way.
A consular official of the Romanian Embassy in Madrid left for the hospital where the injured Romanian had been rushed to get updates on his condition and to provide consular assistance, said MAE.
The AFP news agency says 30 persons were injured on Thursday in Spain including three seriously injured, in blasts followed by a fire at an industrial waste oil recycling facility close to the capital city Madrid.
It quotes a spokesman for the local fire brigade as saying there are 30 injured people, three with serious injuries and 27 with minor ones.
The source added that the cause of the blasts is being investigated.
