Table tennis player Bernadette Szocs has been named the 2024 Sportswoman of the Year by the Romanian Table Tennis Federation, according to the organization's official website, informs Agerpres.
Szocs won two silver medals this year at the European Senior Championships, in women's singles and doubles, a fifth place at the Paris Olympic Games, in mixed doubles, a bronze medal at the Top 16 Europe and ranked 4th the Romanian team at the Mixed Teams World Cup.
The pair Ovidiu Ionescu/Bernadette Szocs ranked second, at the 2024 Olympic Games and also at the Mixed Teams World Cup.
The podium was completed by Darius Movileanu, who won two gold medals at the European Junior Championships, in teams and men's singles, two silver medals at the European U21 Championships, in men's doubles and mixed doubles, a bronze medal, with the team, at the World Junior Championships, and 4th place with the Romanian national team at the Mixed Teams World Cup.
