Romania is ranking first in Southeast Europe in pasta consumption, with an average of over 130 servings ordered every hour, according to an analysis carried out by a delivery platform for October 25, World Pasta Day, inform agerpres.ro.
"Every year, on October 25, World Pasta Day is celebrated, an opportune moment to analyse the top preferences of Romanians in terms of quick and tasty meals. Data with Glovo reflect that in Romania, on average, over 3,000 servings of pasta are ordered per day, the equivalent of over 130 servings per hour and about two per minute," according to the analysis.
Figures place Romania first regionally and second globally within the Glovo network in terms of pasta orders. The trend reflects an increased interest in pasta dishes, a versatile food appreciated for the ease and speed with which it can be prepared and delivered.
Regarding Romanians' preferences for pasta orders, the analysis indicated that February 14, 2024, Valentine's Day, saw a record number of pasta deliveries by Glovo, being the most active day in the last 12 months. On that day, on average, twice as much pasta was delivered as on a typical day, which means more than 250 servings per hour or about 5 per minute.
However, January proves to be the most active time in terms of the number of orders placed, and Friday is Romanians' favourite day to enjoy pasta. In addition, Romanians prefer pasta for lunch and dinner, with the peak hours being 13:00hrs and 19:00hrs
Among the most ordered types of pasta are penne, spaghetti and tagliatelle, while the top recipes, such as carbonara, bolognese and pesto sauce, complete the culinary diversity. In addition, the biggest fan of pasta is a user from Bucharest who, in the last 12 months, has ordered no less than 250 servings.
Statistics on pasta consumption nationwide show Bucharest topping the ranks with the most annual pasta orders, followed by other large cities such as Constanta and Cluj-Napoca.
