Romania's first dedicated burn center, which is being built in Timisoara, will be completed in December, with the first patients likely to be treated here in February 2026, Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete said on Friday, as he checked on site the progress of the works.

''Today I visited the Timisoara construction site together with president of the Timis County Council, Mr. Alfred Simonis and Professor Dorel Sandesc, hospital manager - the people who locally coordinate this exemplary project. Intensive work is underway, and this year the first burn center built in Romania after the Revolution will be completed,'' Rogobete wrote on Facebook.

According to him, the structural works and the heliport are already finished, and the functional installations are being commissioned.

The interior details and medical circuits are currently being finalized.

''The project began in 2022, and now, after years of waiting and promises, we can say: Yes, it is possible! The works will be completed in December this year. After technical testing and accreditation procedures, we estimate that the first severe burn patients will be treated here in February 2026,'' said the minister.

The medical staff was trained in Paris through a World Bank program, so that this center operates at the highest international standards, Alexandru Rogobete said.

"I thank the Health Ministry team, the local team and all the doctors, nurses and the entire medical staff who believed and worked for this project. Trust is regained only through deeds, not promises. The Timisoara facility is proof that, when we work together, our efforts translate into real outcomes," the minister said.
