Romania's national football team will play this autumn a friendly versus Canada for the first time, the Romanian Football Federation announced on its official website on Tuesday.
"The Romanian national team will play a match versus the Canadian national team for the first time. The friendly is scheduled for September 5, in Bucharest, with the stadium and kick-off time to be announced later," the website said.
This will be the first encounter in history between the two representative teams, offering the tricolors the opportunity to test themselves versus a team that qualified for the latest World Cup and which will be one of the hosts of the final tournament in 2026.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the tricolors will debut on March 21, at home, against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and will conclude the qualifying campaign on November 18, also at home, versus San Marino.
After the announcement of the program, the national team's calendar had two free dates, in which Romania had to play friendly matches: in September and October. The opponent for the match in October is Moldova.
