In the women's competition, Romania secured a clear victory in the quarter-finals against Slovakia, winning 3-0.
Bernadette Szocs earned the first point for Romania after defeating Ema Labosova 3-0 (11-3, 11-7, 11-7). Elizabeta Samara extended the lead with a 3-1 win (11-2, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9) over Tatiana Kukulkova, and Andreea Dragoman sealed the result with a 3-0 victory (11-3, 11-9, 11-7) against Barbora Varady.
On Saturday, in the semi-finals, Romania will face the Netherlands at 17:00.
In the men's competition, Romania brought a major surprise by defeating reigning champions Sweden 3-2 after a dramatic finish.
In the opening match, Anton Källberg, a gold medallist two years ago in Malmö, beat Eduard Ionescu 3-1 (11-3, 11-7, 14-16, 11-7).
Iulian Chirita levelled the score by defeating another European champion, Kristian Karlsson, 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 11-5, 13-11).
Ovidiu Ionescu gave Romania the lead with a 3-1 victory over Elias Ranefur (14-12, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6).
Källberg equalised the tie with a 3-2 win (11-2, 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 11-8) against Iulian Chirita.
Eduard Ionescu secured Romania's victory by defeating Kristian Karlsson 3-2 (11-9, 4-11, 10-12, 11-9, 11-9).
On Saturday, in the semi-finals, Romania will face Slovenia at 20:00.
