Romania's unemployment rate in Romania rises to 6.3pct in June 2026

Romania's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.3 percent in June 2026, down 0.1 percentage points from May 2026, but youth unemployment remains at a high level of 28.8 percent, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The number of unemployed aged 15-74 estimated for June 2026 was 511,600, down from the previous month (522,100 from May to May), but up from the same period of the previous year (504,500 in June 2025).

By gender, the unemployment rate registered the same value for both men and women (6.3%).

According to the INS, the high level of 28.8% of the unemployment rate among young people (15-24 years old), recorded between January and March 2026, continues to attract attention.

Among adults (25-74 years old), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.8% for June 2026 (4.9% for men and 4.8% for women).

The number of unemployed aged 25-74 represents 72.2% of the total number of unemployed estimated for June 2026. AGERPRES
