Former Minister of Transport Alexandru-Razvan Cuc was detained on Tuesday by anti-corruption prosecutors in a case in which he is accused of complicity in bribery.
Prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate - Section for Combating Corruption Crimes have ordered the initiation of criminal proceedings and the detention for 24 hours, starting on Thursday, against B.D.C., administrator of a commercial company, and C.R.A., a natural person without special status, for committing the crime of bribery, respectively complicity in bribery.
Anti-corruption prosecutors note in the ordinances that, during September, the Romanian Auto Registry Autonomous Authority launched a public procurement procedure worth approximately 23,000,000 RON including VAT, which aims to ensure the maintenance of vehicle technical inspection and diagnostic equipment.
"During September - November, the defendant B.D.C., also benefiting from the help of the defendant C.R.A., allegedly promised the general director (witness in question) of the Romanian Motor Registry, as a bribe, a percentage of 6% of the total value of the previously mentioned framework agreement, which was to be renewed between the public institution and the company whose administrator is the first defendant," the investigators mention.
According to DNA, the two allegedly promised the respective amount during several meetings or conversations with the RAR general director, so that he would take the necessary steps for the preferential designation of the members of the evaluation committee of the offers submitted by the participants in the public procurement procedure, as well as for the signing of the respective contract with the company managed by B.D.C., in the shortest possible time.
"The defendant B.D.C. allegedly promised the RAR general director that the respective amount of money would be remitted to him, in installments, at intervals of approximately 3-5 months, the first installment being in the period preceding the Christmas holidays," the anti-corruption prosecutors say.
On Wednesday, the two will be presented to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days, DNA informs.
