PSD Senator Liviu - Lucian Mazilu claimed, on Monday, in plenary, that the simple motion regarding Transport has no object, is "false", "populist", "demagogic", and its initiators, "deliberately and even perversely", tried to overlap the Mihai Barbu corruption case with the PSD Congress in order to "tarnish" Sorin Grindeanu's image, agerpres reports.

"I have carefully read the motion submitted by the Opposition, an approach that is democratic and may even seem legitimate, at first reading. However, I asked myself a few simple questions: why now and why precisely on this topic, this area. The signatories of the motion themselves admit that they wanted to use the scandal centered on Mr. Mihai Barbu, PNL treasurer and PNL Vaslui president, about whom the press reported, the DNA claimed that they had facilitated an audience with Prime Minister Bolojan in exchange for a sum of money, starting from the fact that Mr. Barbu heads the Railway Reform Authority. That is how the idea of ?his motion emerged. Of course, Mr. Barbu's presence at the head of the ARF clearly presents a vulnerability for this institution, but, obviously, that is no longer the case, Mr. Barbu has submitted his resignation and I am convinced that Mr. Prime Minister Bolojan "they would have dismissed him urgently," said Mazilu, during the debate on AUR's simple motion "The railway has lost the train."

According to the social democrat, the initial idea from which the motion was based is no longer supported, and the signatories of the motion also took into account the PSD Congress, which elected Sorin Grindeanu, former Minister of Transport, as party president before the current holder of the portfolio, Ciprian Serban.

"The signatories of the motion are trying, in my opinion, deliberately and even perversely, I would say, to overlap the two events: the corruption case and the PSD Congress, with the obvious aim of tarnishing the image of Mr. Sorin Grindeanu, trying to insinuate that Sorin Grindeanu had any connection with the appointment of Mr. Barbu to the Railway Authority. Obviously, that is not the case. It has no connection. Otherwise, how could one explain the fact that the signatories are referring to the 2024 figure now at the end of 2025," explained the PSD parliamentarian.

Minister Ciprian Serban has held this portfolio for only a few months, and the weaknesses listed in the motion cannot be attributed to him, noted Liviu - Lucian Mazilu.

"Dear colleagues from the Opposition, please decide against which minister you have submitted this motion? If you address it to Mr. Grindeanu, I respectfully inform you that it is too late, if you address it to Mr. Ciprian Serban, the current minister, it is too early. Considering all this, we consider that this simple motion has no object, is false, populist and has a deeply demagogic character," the PSD senator said.

According to him, the railway system has numerous problems, but the figures presented in the motion are "truncated and selected conveniently for the initiators."
