President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean said on Monday that the decision on the draft state budget for 2026 will be taken within the governing coalition, mentioning that although everyone wishes for it to be approved this year, he does not believe it will happen, but it is important for discussions to be "settled, based on real figures."

"We will see what the coalition ultimately decides, I believe discussions will start very soon. I think discussions are already taking place and it is normal for that to happen. We would all have wanted to have the budget approved this year, as we have become used to in the last two or three years, I do not think that will happen. But, it is important to have settled discussions, based on real figures," Abrudean underlined.

He mentioned that the Senate's budget will stipulate lower expenditure.

"There will certainly be lower expenditure because, as we know, we had the reorganisation which already produced savings of 10 million lei in personnel expenditure at the revision when we returned the funds, and there will be further spending cuts in other chapters. Thus, I do not see a problem," the President of the Senate explained.
