Senate's Ciuca: Parliament must not be the scene of political scandal, demagogy
The President of the Senate, PNL (National Liberal Party) leader Nicolae Ciuca, asked the Senators, on Monday, to hurry and debate, and then vote, on the legislative objectives of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), also mentioning that, at the beginning of the parliamentary session, he will invite the parliamentary groups to show decency and work efficiently, to the benefit of the people, while leaving aside "political scandal."
"The legislative priorities of the new parliamentary session that started today are, definitely, the fiscal measures necessary to balance the budget and the benchmarks in the PNRR aimed at reforming the general pension system, service pensions and a new public sector salary law. The meeting of all these objectives condition Romania's access to the European funds under the PNRR. We can't afford to lose this money," Ciuca wrote on Facebook.
He mentioned that the laws must be simpler and clearer, and, in this fall session, he will continue to work on eliminating overlaps in normative acts and reducing bureaucracy.
"As President of the Senate, I undertake to contribute to rebuilding citizens' trust in the parliamentary institution. For this objective, a balanced attitude and serious behaviour are necessary, without circus and without gestures bordering on common sense. Parliament must not be the scene of demagoguery, nor of political scandal, but of work for citizens and professionalism. I invite all parliamentary groups to show decency and work efficiently. We are going through a complicated economic and social context, in which it is necessary that both the government and the opposition show responsibility. I wish everyone colleagues, work power and good thinking, to properly serve the interests of Romanians and Romania. God help!," Ciuca also wrote.
