Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan will meet on Wednesday morning with the parliamentary groups of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) to discuss the governing program.

The discussions are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, Siegfried Muresan is holding meetings with PNL and USR lawmakers.

"We will discuss the priorities of the governing program, as well as the timetable and parliamentary procedure for submitting the program and the list of ministers, the hearings for the proposed ministers, and the final vote in the Romanian Parliament," Muresan wrote on Facebook.

On Monday, UDMR President Kelemen Hunor stated that "what remains of the old coalition" does not currently command the 233 votes needed to invest a government, and that his party will continue discussions with PNL and USR before making a decision.

"Of course, we will continue discussions, primarily with the liberals and USR, to review the governing program and see how Mr. Muresan answers a host of questions regarding taxation, the budget, aid for those in need, the economic and development agendas, investments, and many other matters that must be addressed beforehand; we need to see the program with which Mr. Muresan, the Prime Minister-designate, intends to come before Parliament. Naturally, if we conclude that there is absolutely no way to secure the 233 votes needed... then we must make a decision, first and foremost ourselves, on whether to continue discussions and face a disastrous collapse in Parliament with only 160-170 votes, or to decide that, in such a situation, it is better not to prolong the conflict or widen the rift, and instead suggest, since that is all we can do, that Mr. Muresan return his mandate. If Mr. Muresan believes he must see the process through to the end, that is, to the parliamentary vote, then we also will have to decide on our course of action," explained Kelemen Hunor.
