"Food full of poison, chemicals comes into" Romania, the Social Democrat Party (PSD, major at rule, ed. n.) leader Liviu Dragnea said on Sunday night, at the sitting of the PSD's National council, and asked the officials of the Authority for Consumer's Protection (ANPC) and the National Sanitary Veterinary Authority (ANSVSA) to take measures in this respect.
"We have already had this discussion and I know that Mrs. Prime minister was even tougher. It appears it was in vain. So, food full of poison, full of chemicals comes into Romania, lower quality food than the same food sold in their countries of origin. And I'm asking you, for the last time - I, personally, from the party, it is not for me to decide, the Gov't is making the decision, yet I'm only asking - what is it that you lack to kick off this protection programme of the Romanian children and the Romanian citizens so as to prevent them from consuming poisoned food? Do you lack courage? If its is courage that you lack, then it is serious because manhood cannot be bought at the bookshop. Do you lack the gears? Gear up! Do you lack the specialists? Fetch them," the PSD head said.
He added that he approached this topic two years ago, but Romania is further "flooded" by counterfeit goods.
"It's been two years now since I spoke about this and Romania is further flooded by counterfeit goods, by poisoned food, by food and not only that are of lower quality, because it is Romania and we can do whatever we want there. I'm asking you to take this very seriously, Mrs. Prime minister, (...) to accept delays no more! Please ask them to provide by the end of the year the measures plan, the funding needs and since when they are to enforce it. Should they not be capable to protect the Romanian citizens then they must go home! Indeed, let them make another anti-graft criminal file for influence peddling. Let them go home! The positions some or others are appointed to, stop treating them like sinecures. Do assume your responsibility, because this is what the people are expecting of us," Dragnea stressed.
