omanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea won a dramatic victory to the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with 6-1 3-6 7-6 (5) on Sunday, in the inaugural round of the WTA tournament in Madrid, with total prizes worth 5,439,350 dollars.
Cirstea (27, No. 64 WTA), the beneficiary of a wild card, defeated the 16th player of the world after two hours and 25 minutes.
Sorana Cirstea secured a cheque worth 32,260 Euro and 65 WTA points, and in the second round will face the young American player Catherine Bellis (18, No. 59 WTA), victorious with 7-5 5-7 6- 2 in front of the Australian Daria Gavrilova.
