South Korea's ambassador to Romania Kim Yong Ho was on a visit to Iasi today to identify new opportunities for cooperation; he used the occasion to also visit the Iasi Clinical Rehabilitation Hospital for a presentation of the latest equipment acquired by the facility's Robotics Department.
General manager of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Hur Jinhak was part of the delegation that accompanied ambassador Kim Yong Ho, the Iasi City Hall informs in a release.
During the morning, the Korean diplomat discussed with Iasi mayor Mihai Chirica about Romania - South Korea bilateral relations and their recent evolution. The mayor and the ambassador looked at possibilities to expand economic, medical, cultural and academic cooperation between the states and in particular between South Korea and the city of Iasi.
The meeting at the Iasi City Hall was followed by a visit to the Iasi Clinical Rehabilitation Hospital, where the guests were offered a presentation of the latest additions to the equipment of the Robotics Department.
Hospital manager Carmen Cumpat and the doctors of the medical unit presented the three medical equipment items purchased this year by the Iasi municipality with the support of the Health Ministry: an upper limb exoskeleton, an upper limb rehabilitation robotic system, and a gait-training robotic system that helps patients walk and regain balance, while assessing movement parameters online.
The 4.2 ml lei worth of investment for the purchase of the three robots was made under a broader program that benefits the medical unit with local, national and European funds.
Ambassador Kim Yong Ho congratulated the Iasi City Hall and the Rehabilitation Hospital on the acquisition of this equipment, expressing hope that it will help improve the condition of as many patients as possible from Iasi and Romania.
Also on Tuesday, the South Korean delegation met at the Iasi Chamber of Commerce and Industry with representatives of the local business community. Also attending the event were representatives of two Romanian-Korean cosmetics and food companies.
